AI & Parametric Negotiation

In most Gen AI workflows, there is no middle ground between the designer and the AI tools. About 90% of Gen AI use cases in architecture are either creating precise renderings, where the designer does 70% of the job, and AI does 30%, or creating creative concepts, where AI does 70% of the work, and the designer does only 30% of the work.

This workshop aims to find a middle ground, the Negotiable Space, between the designer and Gen AI tools, where the designer neither fully controls AI nor passively accepts what it generates, but instead cultivates a shared human AI latent space where both agents contribute to the design process.

To do this, participants created parametric patterns using Rhino and Grasshopper, transformed those patterns into architectural spaces with the help of ComfyUI using models like SDLX, Flux, and Gemini 3 Image Pro. By the end of the workshop, participants will have developed an iterative workflow that connects parametric logic, generative AI interpretation, and contextual design visualization.
